A lithium complex of an abnormal carbene with the composition [H 3 BC{{N(2,6‐ i Pr 2 C 6 H 3 )} 2 CHCLi(THF) 3 }] was synthesized by the lithiation reaction of the N‐heterocyclic carbene borane adduct {IPr · BH 3 , IPr = [C{[N(2,6‐ i Pr 2 C 6 H 3 )]CH} 2 ] ( 1 )} with n BuLi. The lithiated species was proven by NMR spectroscopy and unambiguously established by single‐crystal X‐ray structural analysis.
