The syntheses of the first reported p ‐block complexes of the bithiazole moiety are reported, namely [( t BuBTz)BBr 2 ][Br] ( 3 ), and [(PhBTz)BBr 2 ][Br] ( 4 ) ( t BuBTz = 4,4′‐di‐ tert ‐butyl‐2,2′‐bithiazole and PhBTz = 4,4′‐diphenyl‐2,2′‐bithiazole). Compounds 3 and 4 were prepared via reaction of equimolar quantities of the appropriate bithiazole ligand with BBr 3 . The molecular structures of 3 , and the known compound PhBTz ( 2 ) were established using single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction techniques.
