A few organotin(IV) ([R 2 SnCl 2 ], [R 3 SnCl]; R = Me, Ph, n Pr, or n Bu) and organolead(IV) ([Ph 2 PbCl 2 ], [Ph 3 PbCl]) compounds that contain the thiophene‐2‐thiocarboxylate ligand have been synthesized and characterized by 1 H, 13 C, 119 Sn NMR; FTIR; and UV/Vis spectroscopy. The molecular structures of some of the compounds were studied by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction. Structures and electronic transitions have been explained on the basis of DFT calculations.
