The compound {[Mn(C 6 H 18 N 4 )] 2 SnS 4 } · 4H 2 O (C 6 H 18 N 4 = triethylenetetramine) was obtained under solvothermal conditions. In the structure of the {[Mn(C 6 H 18 N 4 )] 2 SnS 4 } ∞ chain, two S atoms of the [SnS 4 ] 4– anion act in a hitherto never observed μ 3 bridging mode that connects the Mn 2 S 2 N 8 di‐octahedra. The Mn 2+ ions are octahedrally coordinated by four N and two S atoms, and two symmetry‐related octahedra share a common S–S edge. Three of the H 2 O molecules are joined into chains through H‐bonding interactions.(© Wiley‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, 69451 Weinheim, Germany, 2009)
