Eleven novel five‐membered PSe 2 C 2 heterocycles have been synthesised from [PhP(Se)(μ‐Se)] 2 (Woollins' reagent) and alkynes (one or two C≡C triple bonds) by insertion of a Ph(Se)PSe 2 fragment into alkyne triple bonds. An unusual diselenide formed by an intramolecular cycloaddition/rearrangement is also reported. All compounds have been characterised spectroscopically and four demonstrative X‐ray crystal structures are reported. (© Wiley‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co. KGaA, 69451 Weinheim, Germany, 2007)
