CuBr and Fe(OOCCH 3 ) 2 react with PhSeSiMe 3 in acetonitrile in the presence of the diammonium salt [ n Pr 3 N(CH 2 ) 6 N n Pr 3 ]Br 2 to yield ionic [ n Pr 3 N(CH 2 ) 6 N n Pr 3 ][CuFe 3 Br 3 (SePh) 6 ]. The neutral complexes [Cu 5 Fe(SePh) 7 (PPh 3 ) 4 ] and [Cu 4 Fe 3 (SePh) 10 (PPh 3 ) 4 ] were obtained by similar reactions of different stoichiometric mixtures of CuOOCCH 3 and FeCl 2 with PPh 3 and PhSeSiMe 3 . The crystal structures of the compounds were determined by single‐crystal X‐ray analysis to give new structural types of molecular cluster compounds formed by copper, iron and selenium. Thermal treatment of [Cu 5 Fe(SePh) 7 (PPh 3 ) 4 ] and [Cu 4 Fe 3 (SePh) 10 (PPh 3 ) 4 ] resultsin the formation of mixtures of binary Cu 2 Se and ternaryCuFeSe 2 .(© Wiley‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
