Redox transmetallation reactions between trimethyltin compounds, SnMe 3 L [L = 3,5‐diphenylpyrazolate (Ph 2 pz), 2,6‐di‐ tert ‐butyl‐4‐methylphenolate (OAr), or C 6 F 5 ] and lanthanoid metals have yielded [Ln(Ph 2 pz) 2 (DME) 2 ] (Ln = Eu, Yb), [Ln(Ph 2 pz) 3 (DME) 2 ] (Ln = Y, La, Nd, Eu), [Ln(Ph 2 pz) 3 (THF) 3 ] (Ln = Nd, Sm), [Ln(Ph 2 pz) 3 (THF) 2 ] (Ln = Y, Yb), [Sm(OAr) 3 (THF)], [Yb(OAr) 2 (THF) 3 ], and [Yb(C 6 F 5 ) 2 (THF) 4 ] complexes in yields generally competitive with those from othermethods, and hexamethylditin. The crystal structures of [Nd(Ph 2 pz) 3 (DME) 2 ] · DME, [Eu(Ph 2 pz) 3 (DME) 2 ] · 2DME, and [Sm(Ph 2 pz) 3 (THF) 3 ] · 3THF were determined. All have nine‐coordination of the lanthanoid atom and three η 2 ‐Ph 2 pz ligands, the first two also having an η 1 ‐ and an η 2 ‐DME ligand and the last having three THF ligands.
