A new octadentate ligand L was synthesized by tetrafunctionalization of 1,4,8,11‐tetraazacyclotetradecane (L 1 , cyclam) with 4‐pyridylmethyl groups and its two novelcadmium polymeric metallamacrocyclic complexes, [Cd 3 L 1.5 (C 6 H 5 O 7 ) 2 ·6H 2 O] n ( 1 ) and [CdCl 2 L 2 ·2.5H 2 O] n ( 2 ), were obtained by hydrothermal methods.
