We report the preparation and the X‐ray crystal structure of the iron complex [Fe(L 1 )Cl][Cl] [L 1 = N , N , N′ ‐tris(2‐pyridylmethyl)‐ o ‐phenylenediamine], and its reactivity towards molecular dioxygen. Upon exposure to dry O 2 , coordinated L 1 is oxidatively dehydrogenated to the aldimine ligand L 2 . The ferric cation [Fe(L 2 )(CH 3 CN)] 3+ is thus obtained, and characterized by UV/Vis and EPR spectroscopy, and X‐ray diffraction analysis. The free L 2 ligand can be recovered after decomplexation.
