The reaction of the dithiolene [Pd(Et 2 timdt) 2 ] (Et 2 timdt = formally monoreduced diethylimidazolidine‐2,4,5‐trithione) with Br 2 or IBr yields the complex [Pd(Et 2 timdt)Br 2 ], a good starting material for the synthesis of novel push‐pull mixed‐ligand Pd‐dithiolenes. The synthesis and characterisation of the unsymmetrical dithiolene [Pd(Et 2 timdt)(mnt)] (mnt = maleonitriledithiolato dianion) is also reported. (© Wiley‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
