From the new ligand bis[2‐( tert ‐butylthio)benzyl](2‐pyridylmethyl)amine [N 2 (S t Bu) 2 ], the corresponding complexes [Cu I {N 2 (S t Bu) 2 }]CF 3 SO 3 ( 1 ) and [Cu II {N 2 (S t Bu) 2 }](H 2 O)(CF 3 SO 3 )]CF 3 SO 3 ( 2 ) were synthesized and characterized by X‐ray crystallography. The Cu−S bonds are unusually shortened in 1 and elongated for the axial thioether in 2 . Redox studies show that 1 and 2 interconvert during the electron transfer with a high Cu II/I potential of 0.79 V vs. SCE in CH 2 Cl 2 . (© Wiley‐VCH Verlag GmbH & Co.
