Our front cover features a deep‐sea shrimp, Oplophorus gracilirostris , spitting a mix of luciferase (blue) and luciferin to produce a bioluminescent cloud which blinds its predators. Optimization of this bioluminescence system increased the photon emission by at least three orders of a magnitude. These factors improved the sensitivity and dynamic range of a luciferase‐enhanced ELISA‐type assays as depicted in the plate image. This image illustrates an assay presented in Anna et al. (pp. 180–190), where the authors adapted this luciferase‐linked immunosorbent assay (LuLISA) for the high‐throughput detection of SARS‐CoV‐2 spike‐ and nucleoprotein‐specific immunoglobulins G in human sera to study COVID‐19 immune response in a representative population of Parisian workers.
