Abstract The set of scales characterising the differing, but balanced perspectives, of Viewpoint articles forms a distinctive component of the cover image. Combined with the scales is an image taken from the Viewpoint article by Hohlfeld ( pp . 2036–2039) that depicts, in cartoon form, the immunopathogenesis of multiple sclerosis. The cartoon portrays activated autoreactive T cells crossing the blood‐brain barrier where, following re‐stimulation, these cells stimulate processes leading to myelin and axon damage.
