Abstract The cover shows an electron microscopy picture of a fur mite and illustrates the article by Pochanke et al. (pp. 2434–2445). In this article, the authors dissect the allergic reaction arising following murine mite infestation and demonstrate that IgE and IgG1 production is dependent on CD40‐mediated secretion of IL‐4 from CD4 + T cells. Moreover they indicate that the miteinduced switch to IgE production occurs in skin‐draining LN and is associated with skin mast cell degranulation and increased numbers of mast cells in the skin‐draining LN.
