SUMMARY This paper describes an equivalent circuit of a photovoltaic system. The maximum power point is estimated with the equivalent circuit. A calculation method which estimates output voltage and current at the maximum power point by the use of the intensity of sunlight is introduced. The proposed method determines the starting voltage of the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) control of the PV system. Simulation results and preliminary experimental results show the feasibility of the proposed method.
