We suggest a gigibit Ethernet (GbE)‐based time transfer technique. In this technique, timing signals used for clock error measurements are inserted into interframe gaps and transmitted. We developed the GbE‐based time transfer system and evaluated the phase stability and precision. © 2007 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
