The load variation of the electrohydraulic servo system causes degradation of the control characteristic. This is because the flow characteristic of the flow control valve depends on the load condition. Here, we propose the flow calculation formula to have continuous flow between turbulent and laminar flow so that we compose the linear plant model with a scheduling parameter. Then, we design gain‐scheduled controllers for the velocity and hydraulic force control. © 2003 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
