SUMMARY Adaptive notch filters composed of an adaptive transversal filter have the limitation of bias error resulting from the broadband signal included in the input signal. In this paper, we propose an adaptive notch filter with a smaller bias error using a new adaptive algorithm based on the square sum of the correlation function with decorrelation parameter (SSCF‐DP). The cost function of the SSCF‐DP algorithm is the square sum of the cross‐correlation coefficient of the input and output error signal with the decorrelation parameter. The analytical results and the features described above are verified by computer simulation.
