SUMMARY We aim at the development of high‐sensitivity magnetic sensors with magnonic crystals at room temperature. We fabricated SmCo thin film magnets on magnonic crystals as a monolithic structure. We were able to excite spin waves and develop a magnonic band gap by means of the magnetic field of the thin film magnet. Since magnonic crystals have a high magnetic field dependence, there is potential for their use as magnetic sensors. The maximum response sensitivity of the magnonic crystals with SmCo thin film magnets was found to be 7900%/Oe. We also investigated two‐axis magnetic field sensing by spin waves.
