Reduction of Nanos activity causes germ line stem cell failure in the Drosophila ovary. Only a few cysts with Vasa‐positive (green) differentiating germ line cells remain. The adducin‐like molecule Hts, which marks membranes, is red and DNA is blue. See the article by Yu et al. in this issue.
