This short article provides a brief overview of the epidemiology of diabetes and the diabetic foot in developing countries, reviews evidence that diabetic foot care is potentially one of the most cost‐effective interventions for people with diabetes in developing countries, and outlines some of the challenges to improving access to foot care and diabetes care in general.
