Autism spectrum disorder is the fastest‐growing disability in the United States. According to statistics from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 1.7 percent of the population has ASD. At a large institution with tens of thousands of students, that could translate to a not‐insignificant percentage of the student body. Are all parts of your institution well‐equipped to deal with the needs of students with ASD?
