Among college students, mental health problems are common. The 2016 National College Health Assessment reported that nearly 40 percent of students found themselves “so depressed it was difficult to function” within the previous 12 months — with 19 percent feeling “overwhelming anxiety,” and 10 percent “seriously considering suicide.” These numbers are alarming, as the pressure placed upon college students nowadays is only amplified and exasperated for those experiencing such a degree of anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues. Fortunately, however, the Judge David L. Bazelon Center for Mental Health Law has published “Campus Mental Health: Frequently Asked Questions” to help students with mental health disabilities on campus.
