Rats were given daily isotonic saline or blank injections intraperitoneally during one of three postnatal periods (1–25 days, 25–50 days, 50–75 days) and were then subjected to 18 Hebb‐Williams maze problems beginning at 92 days of age. The rats receiving the blank injections from 25–50 days of age were impaired on later maze performance. Weight differences did not correspond to the effects of the control injections.
