The action of DSP‐4 [N‐(2‐chloroethyl)‐N‐ethyl‐2‐bromo‐benzylamine] on drug‐metabolizing liver enzymes was studied in the rat. Seventy‐two hours after a single subcutaneous (sc) dose of DSP‐4 (75 mg/kg), mixed‐function oxidases, glucuronyltransferases, and cytochrome P‐450 were decreased, whereas aniline hydroxylase, cytochrome c reductase, and glutathione S ‐transferase remained unchanged. Thus, in addition to DSP‐4′s central action, effects on peripheral organs are also exerted.
