This paper describes selected events in the life of Dr. George N. Papanicolaou and his wife Mary, as witnessed by the author. It includes a written version of a talk on endometrial cytology by Dr. Papanicolaou, and serves as a posthumous publication of that paper. It tells the story how one of Dr. Papanicolaou's sculptures gradually came to resemble him. Information related to his memorabilia and archives is included. The sources of information are documented by 30 references and 6 illustrations.
