Strongyloidiasis is an infectious disease caused by the nematode helminth, Strogyloides stercoralis. Subjects immunosuppressed, immunocomprised, or on steroids are susceptible to hyperinfection and dissemination. Early detection of parasitic infection in such individuals is extremely important as disseminated Strongyloidiasis is potentially fatal. Here, we present a case of Strongyloidiasis initially detected by Prussian blue stain of bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) specimen from an immunosuppressed patient who was treated with prednisone for acute interstitial nephritis and developed hemoptysis.
