Neuroendocrine carcinomas (NEC) comprise about 2% of all carcinomas. Review of the literature indicates only a few cases of NEC presenting as an abscess, all having been diagnosed by tissue biopsy. Here, we report the FNA diagnosis of a high‐grade neuroendocrine carcinoma presenting as an abscess of the axilla/chest wall in a 68‐year‐old man and review the pertinent literature. Diagn.
