The diagnosis of atypical lipomatous tumor by biopsy, requires careful examination of several slides, in order to look for atypical cells. We suggest that imprints of lipomatous tumors may play a complementary role in such a search, and report a case of a 74‐yr‐old woman with an atypical lipomatous tumor of the left thigh, in which imprints helped to make the diagnosis.
