When Carol Fierke, Ph.D., joined Texas A&M University as the Provost and Executive Vice President, she brought with her a wealth of experience in recruiting and retaining a diverse and dedicated pool of faculty from her work at previous institutions. In 2005, at the University of Michigan, Fierke unexpectedly stepped into the role of department chair for the chemistry department and remained department chair for a decade.
