Before I was a chief academic officer, I was a dean for 12 years. At different times, and at various colleges, I was dean of arts and sciences, academic support, an evening and weekend college, and the main campus of a multi‐campus college. One thing is for certain: There is an important skill set necessary for a successful deanship.
