Change is hard, especially when it comes to higher education. Often, employees will resist change because they prefer their usual routines. The change agent — usually an academic leader — has to be academically and professionally prepared to lead such change. One framework for introducing change into higher education settings is John Kotter's 8‐Step Change Model.
