In a utopian world, the decision of which job to take (or how long to stay in it) would be motivated by purely intrinsic reasons. However, this unfortunately isn't the reality. In fact, for many, the financial compensation serves as the primary driver in career choices. The bottom line is that campus employees do need to be able to provide for themselves and their families.
