Concern about the pipeline for leadership positions in community colleges has been a major factor in community colleges creating their own programs on leadership development since the early 2000s. These programs are often identified as “Grow Your Own” programs. The concern about the leadership pipeline was one factor when the Community College of Philadelphia started a leadership development program in 2002.
