ORLANDO — “How many [students] can function with no financial aid eligibility?” asked Allene Begley Curto, associate director of financial aid services at Springfield College. The federal regulations are complex, but faculty, staff, and administrators outside the Financial Aid Office need some basic information about how aid works so they don't give students advice that can create problems with their aid. And compliance should not be the sole or primary motivation of campus officials understanding aid, Curto said. Campus officials need to have the shared goal of helping students complete their degrees or certificate programs.
