Slate facade in the DomRömer‐Quartier, Frankfurt. In the completely new old town centre, the DomRömer‐Quartier, 15 of 35 houses were built according to historic guidelines as ”creative new buildings“. A further 20 ”modern“ buildings have been built on the basis of the historic town plan and according to the guidelines of the DomRömer design rules. The pattern of the slates to the gable front in the attic storey is worth mentioning. Instead of the usual laying to the right, the architect decided on a facade, in which the slating pattern runs to the left and right of the central window with left‐ and right‐handed slating and thus forms a symmetrical gable.
