The present article reports on investigations into the protection of masonry veneer walls according to Eurocode 6 against driving rain including consideration of window openings through rain exposure tests on eight test samples with different waterproofing variants. The results were published in the paper “Resistance of Masonry Veneer Walls against Rain Penetration” at the 13th Canadian Masonry Symposium (Halifax, Canada, June 4th – June 7th 2017). At the conference, the paper was awarded the C. T. Grimm‐Award for the best publication worldwide on the durability of masonry. It is summarised in excerpts below.
