Trypanosoma brucei transmitted by the Tse‐Tse fly and causative agent of the sleeping sickness, have evolved singular mechanisms of gene expression that are crucial for their survival. Hiraiwa et al. have developed a fluorescence‐based assay to quantify nascent mRNA using both flow cytometry and a high‐content imaging system.
