The process of erythrocyte and reticulocyte identification (and exclusion) for flow cytometric analysis can be made simpler and more efficient by use of NAD(P)H‐related fluorescence measurement. In this issue, the work of Tauzin and colleagues describes a method that obviates the need for additional immunostaining or optical modifications of cytometers.
