On the cover: This image of a synthetic three‐dimensional HeLa cell shows the nuclear membrane in red, the cell membrane in blue, and lysosomal membranes in green. It was randomly generated from a model learned from real 3D images using the approach described by Peng and Murphy, Cytometry Part A 79A:383–391, 2011. The generative modeling approach provides a means of aligning data from different sources into a common simulation framework. The presentation generated here provides an artistic interpretation: the computers' eye “sees” the cell in its own way and translates that perception to the scientist.
