On‐ and off‐shell scattering rates for strongly coupled plasmas are calculated in T‐matrix approximation to study the relevance of strong correlations between the plasma particles. Thermodynamic equilibrium as well as nonequilibrium plasmas are considered. On the basis of the calculated scattering rates, the stopping power is determined for ion beams in dense plasmas. These results are compared with molecular dynamic simulations. For the full T‐matrix approach, a good agreement is found for low beam velocities.
