A theoretically based model for heat flux limiters is under development for the multi‐fluid code EDGE2D. Results show a strong reduction in the ion heat flux while that for the electrons is largely classical. A corresponding reduction in the thermal forces on impurities has lead to a small improvement in impurity retention.
