Numerical simulation of the behavior of carbon impurity for the JT‐60U divertor experiment has been carried out. Two approaches are examined for the impurity model: (1) a full charge state model and (2) a single average ion model. The full model simulates fairly well the power loss due to the impurities. The amount of power loss obtained by the single average ion model disagrees with that of the full model.
