The simultaneous radial and axial decay in the flowing afterglow plasma has been investigated for metastable atoms, atomic and molecular ions and electrons. The exact solution of this problem leads to a set of differential equations. The stability of the numerical solution of these equations is not clear. The aim of the present paper is to simplify the mathematical description of the problem and to solve it on the basis of experimental results obtained in the argon flowing afterglow initiated by a microwave discharge.
