Abstract The formation of clouds of dust particles at the edge of striations of a spherical discharge in ethanol was observed. Periodically, a dust cloud experienced sudden explosion, split into two clouds, which moved in the opposite directions (to the centre of spherical discharge and to the chamber wall). The velocity of the dust cloud was the exponentially decaying function of time with a surprisingly small damping rate as in the case of dissipative dust solitory waves.
