It is shown that the relief structure with optimum parameters can significantly increase the short‐pulse laser absorption, which is connected with the enhancement of moving electrons between relief ledges. Analytical modeling and numerical simulations confirm this argumentation. In the considered cases, degradation of a structure by a laser pre‐pulse is the most important factor and for this scheme to work, one needs a very high‐contrast laser‐pulse and a nanosecond laser pre‐pulse duration. The limitation on laser pulse duration is not so strong because after destruction of a first relief a secondary dynamic structure of ion density appears. Thus, high absorption connected with a relief existence continues during a long time that gives a possibility for structure targets to be more efficient compared to a plane one.
