We used the semi‐classical Deutsch‐Märk (DM) formalism to calculate absolute electron‐impact ionization cross sections of excited Ne atoms from threshold to 1000 eV. Excited states of Ne where the outermost valence electron is excited to states with principal quantum numbers up to n = 7 and orbital angular momentum quantum numbers up to l = 2 have been considered and systematic trends in the calculated cross section data are discussed.
