The contribution of higher‐order terms on the nonlinear propagation of electron acoustic waves has been investigated, using the reductive perturbation technique. A modified KdV equation for the first order perturbed potential and a linear inhomogeneous equation for the second order perturbed potential have been derived. The soliton width and amplitude have been calculated.
