The influence of drifting electrons on the properties of ion acoustic solitons is discussed. The range of Mach numbers within which solitary waves are possible and the dependence of soliton velocity on amplitude are given. It is shown that solitary waves exist for Mach numbers M < 1 in the presence of drifting electrons.
