A resonance scattering experiment in an argon high‐current low‐pressure discharge is described. The saturation intensity has been measured for several discharge conditions and compared with a simple balance equation model for the transition 4 p 2 D 3/2 ‐ 4 s 2 P 3/2 of the argon ion.
